Lakay/Islander decimated Marianas Dental Clinic, 95-58, in the third and last open division game of the Inaugural SCLC Basketball League last Friday at the Gillette Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Gualo Rai.

Lakay got off on the right foot, getting 7 points and 6 points from Kobe Santos and Preston Basa, respectively, to take a 22-13 lead after the opening quarter.

They doubled up their obviously overmatched opponents in the second quarter, 50-24, as frontliners Zeric Gant and D.J. Ong frolicked inside.

It was more of the same as the second half started with Gant and Ong continuing their domination of MDC and Lakay entered the fourth and final quarter on top, 64-42.

Jet Jandoc and White Capalad then put on the finishing touches of Lakay’s wire-to-wire win, as the two combined for 12 markers in the final 10 minutes of the 37-point rout.

Gant led all scorers with 20 markers, while Santos, Ong, and Jandoc dropped at least 10 points apiece in the win.
