1 of 7 in ‘ice’ case pleads guilty

Bao Zhong Wang, one of seven persons arrested in February by joint local and federal law enforcers for alleged distribution of methamphetamine or “ice,” has pleaded guilty in federal court.

Wang pleaded guilty on Monday to a count of distribution of methamphetamine as part of a plea deal with the U.S. government.

The offense carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1-million fine.

Wang was represented by court-appointed counsel Steven Pixley.

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona accepted Wang’s guilty plea and the plea agreement.

Sentencing will be on Sept. 3, 2014, at 9am.

Wang, 46, is accused of selling 4.7 grams of “ice” to a confidential source of the Drug Enforcement Administration on Nov. 27, 2012, in exchange for $1,350.

Aside from Bao Zhong Wang, the six others arrested in February were Xing Bo Fang, Yu Hua Wang, Hong Wang, Daniel A. Castro, Vicente S. Palacios, and Le Xiang Chen, 63. Most have already pleaded guilty.
