Kosebakl beat 670 Babes, 5-2, last Sunday at the Dandan Softball Field to tie Queens of the Diamond atop the women’s division of the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League.
Pitcher Jennie Scalliem made noise with her bat when her sacrifice fly in the fifth brought home Angela Muna to break a 2-2 tie.
Kosebakl then piled on insurance runs in the sixth when Herminia Kelly and Sonia Isaac crossed home plate following an impressive double by Kayla Kaipat.
670 Babes actually were on the board first after Tiah Camacho scored on a fielding error by Ving Ngiriblosch.
Kosebakl tied it when a single by Keyona Tudela scored Ngiriblosch in the third inning.
Scalliem and company would then take the lead in the next inning when Shayene Matsumoto singled in Kelly for a 2-1 Kosebakl advantage.
But Lizanne Guerrero would retaliate with a run of her own following consecutive singles by Semerina Simram, Julieann Guerrero, and Erlina Naputi to make it 2-2.
Scalliem then promptly silenced 670 Babes from the fifth inning onward.
Kelly went 2-3 at bat with two runs, while Ngiriblosch was equally impressive also going 2-3 with one run and a double to lead Kosebakl to the win. Kaipat and Matsumoto also each had RBIs.
Losing pitcher Simian went 2-3 on the plate and also had a run for 670 Babes. Guerrero also batted in a run, same with Caitlyn Blaney.
It was the third straight win against zero losses for Kosebakl, while the win dropped 670 Babes to 1-2.
The only other women’s division game Sunday between Hotshots and Tokehao Ladies was rained out.
The three games that were played in the men’s division last Sunday between Man Amigos and Momma Charo, Asahi and Peleliu, and Salty Boys and Aimeliik will be published in tomorrow’s edition of Saipan Tribune.
