Ramsey, Elliot lead early tennis rankings
National tennis players Colin Ramsey and Hye Jin Elliot are atop the heap in the men’s and women’s open rankings of the Northern Mariana Islands Tennis Association.
With just one tournament completed—the 2022 TanHoldings Tennis Classic—Ramsey finds himself with 1,000 points to lead the men’s open division after winning the tournament in November last year.
The player he beat, Moris Villanueva, is second in the rankings with 750 points while following the Crown Plaza Resort tennis pro is a couple of vets—national tennis coach and CNMI Sports Hall of Famer Jeff Race and Tomas Abel—with 500 points apiece.
In the women’s open rankings, Elliot also has 1,000 points after winning the TanHoldings tourney. National squad teammate and Saipan International School schoolmate Serin Chung is second with 750 points, while Hoo Wang and Anne Lee share third place with 500 points apiece.
La Hunn Lam, who last year became the youngest ever player to suit up in Wimbledon, leads the rankings in the men’s 4.0 with his 1,250 points. He’s followed by Si Woo Lee with his 750 points, while Tahir Shakir and Wataru Kadokura share the third spot with identical 500 points.
Hannaeh Chae has the No. 1 spot in the women’s 4.0 with her 1,000 points, followed by Irin Chung’s 750 points. Grace Choi and Savita Sikkel are joint third with 500 points each.
Marlon Bercilla’s 1,250 points paces the men’s 3.0 with John Casauran second with 750 points. Jess Sablan and Daniel Zhao are tied for third with 500 points.
Michelle Park’s 1,000 points holds the pole position in the women’s 2.0. Jalexia Rulona is second with her 750 points, while La Mee Lam and Jocelyn Paano are tied at third with 500 points apiece.
Paul Jang tops the men’s 40+ with his 1,000 points with Eric Abragan second with his 750 points. Edwin Simbulan closes out the Top 3 with his 600 points.
Dong Min Lee is numero uno in the men’s 50+ with his 325 points with Ronnie Lacbayo, Roy Pangelinan, and Jeff Race closely following with 250 points each.
In the women’s 50+, Lydia Tan is in the lead with 250 points with Eunkyoung Lee and Annie Lai in second and third with 200 points and 100 points, respectively.
David Lai’s 1,000 points currently leads the men’s 60+ rankings with the 938 points of Felix Rulona a close second. John Bradley is third with his 625 points.
