K2 Ballerz win, Double A loses in SCLC caging
K2 Ballerz won again, while Double A Corp. lost again in the 2nd Annual Saipan Centennial Lions Basketball League last Wednesday at the Civic Center Basketball Court in Susupe.
In the first game, Double A’s only bright spot was the first quarter where they led 15-9. Blue Haus, however, won the next three quarters after that as it drained Double A dry en route to an 84-67 victory.
Tony Diaz and Brendon Talania shot the lights out against Double A, finishing with 21 and 20 points, respectively. Double A was paced by the 18 markers of Rodney Catalla and 11 points of Aiken Ege.
Blue Haus thus remained unscathed in the masters division at 4-0, while Double A is at 1-3 following its win in the previous game.
In the second game, K2 Ballerz extricated itself from a close game and outlasted Checkpoint International, 76-72, in the open division.
Checkpoint International actually led after the opening 10 minutes, 20-16, but the game was pretty much even-steven after that before K2 Ballerz outplayed their opponents down the stretch to improve to 2-3.
Jay Palmes led all scorers with 26 points for K2 Ballerz, while Austin Camacho fired 13 markers for the now 0-6 Checkpoint International.
Last Tuesday, MarTech Ol’Acs cruised to an 86-71 win over The Game and stayed perfect in the open division at 5-0, while their opponents lost just their second game in five outings.
In the second game, Puerto Rico Bento improved to 3-2 after waylaying Socho Team, 69-61. The latter went down to its fifth straight loss after winning their debut.
Last Monday, Susan’s Catering got the better of Checkpoint International, 83-73, to raise its record to 2-4, while keeping their opponents winless in five games at that time.
