Bennett appointed to the CNMI Cannabis Commission
Gov. Arnold I. Palacios has nominated Ambrose M. Bennett, a retired teacher and an advocate for the legalization of marijuana in the CNMI, to serve as a member of the CNMI Cannabis Commission representing Saipan and the Northern Islands.
Bennett’s appointment requires the advice and consent of the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation.
The terms of commissioners are statutorily established as staggered four-year terms. If confirmed, Bennett will serve the remaining term vacated by Nadine Deleon Guerrero, which will expire on Sept. 11, 2023.
Palacios said that Bennett’s nomination shall also serve as his re-appointment to serve a subsequent four-year term subject to advice and consent of the SNILD.
Palacios said he and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang are confident that Bennett meets the qualification of a commissioner and that he will devote his time and efforts to carry out the regulatory mandates of the Cannabis Commission for the successful implementation of the Taulamwarr Sensible CNMI Cannabis Act of 2018.
Bennett used to serve as Board of Education teacher representative.
