Environmental heroes feted during MINA 10th Annual Green Gala

Mariana Islands Nature Alliance feted winners of its Green Awards at its annual Green Gala last Friday night at Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan’s Hibiscus Hall.

Sheila Babauta won Environmental Champion Award for her demonstration of extraordinary commitment to the environment and preservation of the CNMI’s natural resources.

The Environmental Heroes Award was awarded to the 4-H Marianas whose students exemplify an eagerness to learn about and demonstrate a passion for conservation.

Marianas Creations, owned by Elina Gharti Chhetri, was awarded the Green Business of the Year award.

Besides bestowing awards to annual environmental heroes, MINA also held a silent auction that gave away items such as coasters, keychains, and fishing floaters created from recycled plastics made through MINA’s community recycles plastics program.
