FMS outruns COVMS, 17-2

Francisco M. Sablan Middle School Napu Riders evened up their record, 2-2, after they outscored Cha Cha Ocean View Middle School Lancherus, 17-2, in the Inaugural SBL-PSS Interscholastic Boys Middle School Slow Pitch Softball League 2023-2024 last Saturday at the Dandan Softball Field.

In a run-mercy ruled game, FMS’ Joseph Lizama quickly became the star of the show after he stepped up to the plate and whacked an inside the park home run in the first inning.

With his homer, he brought in Eric Palacios, Gavin Rogolofoi, and Logan Daniel, who all reached base via walks and it became a 4-1 game.

The Lancherus tried to reap more runs but were stopped dead in their tracks by Napu Riders pitcher Kelvin John. Only one more run came in for COVMS by way of Jacob Santos in the second inning, and John went on to shut them down.

FMS, however, were ball magnets of the good kind as they drove in 13 more runs throughout the game. Lizama went on to hit an RBI triple, while Abraham Saralu and Rogolofoi hit an RBI double each.

In other results, Mount Carmel School won over Tanapag Middle School, 16-11; Hopwood Middle School beat MCS, 15-5; Dandan Middle School trumped TMS, 13-8; and HMS JV blanked COVMS, 7-0.

In the standings as of last Saturday, HMS V and DMS lead the league with a 4-1 record each; TMS and MCS are at 3-2 apiece; COVMS have yet to win with five losses; while HMS JV is 1-4.

The last games of the regular season were played yesterday afternoon. The championship series is set to start on Jan. 11 to Jan. 13 at the Capital Hill Softball Field.
