Marianas Deals branches out to Gualo Rai

Marianas Deals has opened a second branch in Gualo Rai at the old location of the Commonwealth Cancer Association.

Owners Melvin and Lynie Cabrera said they wanted a bigger store with ample parking to complement their first store in As Perdido and the new site does both that.

The Cabreras said the gift shop and housewares store also has gotten requests from loyal customers who live further north in Tanapag and San Roque to open a location in the middle of the island.

Marianas Deals started as a home-based business during the COVID-19 lockdown, selling comforters and curtains before branching out to a brick-and-mortar presence in As Perdido in February 2022.

The Cabreras said the prime motivator in opening an actual physical store was their home business ultimately outgrew their house. This also led to Lynie Cabrera resigning from her day job to focus fulltime on the burgeoning business.

The December opening of Marianas Deals in Gualo Rai came at a perfect a time, as holiday shoppers came in droves, eager to take advantage of the Cabreras’ Christmas promotion.

The couple said Marianas Deals has become a one-stop destination of sorts for affordable perfume, comforters, and curtains from suppliers in the U.S. mainland and China. During this past holiday season, customers also took a fancy to their expansive Sanrio products as well as Christmas gift baskets. The store also carries an assortment of authentic sport caps.

As for their market, Marianas Deals’ customers seem to be the local and Filipino communities.

They also have a layaway program, where interested customers can put a 20% down to reserve the item and full payment should be made in a month’s time.

For this coming Valentine’s Day, the Cabreras will be stocking up both their newly opened Gualo Rai store and As Perdido location with specialty items for the day of hearts.
