Hoopaholics 670 outscores OG Aces, 68-51
Hoopaholics 670 faced off against OG Aces for the first time in the NMIBF Masters Preseason Basketball League and outscored them, 68-51, last Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
Hoopaholics got off to a roaring start, putting a great distance between them and OG Aces early on. Hoopaholics’ starting five all got a piece of the bucket and by the end of the first quarter, they enjoyed a 10-point, 20-10 lead.
The OG Aces tried to make a run for it in the second quarter but couldn’t outpace the Hoopaholics on the court. Despite a 15-point quarter, they were still within five-points, 30-15, at the end of the first half.
Ray Deleon Guerrero took it upon himself to steer the Aces in the right direction, but he was no match for the starting five and bench of Hoopaholics. He put up 21 points but his efforts went down the drain as Hoopaholics maintained the lead in the third quarter.
Hoopaholics slowed down a bit in the second half, but still maintained a slight edge over the OG Aces, and by the end, pulled further away from them to seal their first win.
The trio of Junior Renguul, James Villacrusis, and Henry Sablan’s double digit game handed the Hoopaholics their first victory. Renguul contributed the most points with 13, Villacrusis shot 12, and Sablan added 10 points.
Meanwhile, OG Aces’ Rudy Borja assisted Deleon Guerrero as best he could with 12 points, and John Joyner and John Yarofalir scored six points each.
