Ellery Cruz elected president of MRA
Former Expert Class champion Ellery Cruz has succeeded Charles Cepeda as president of the Marias Racing Association.
Cruz was elected during the Jan. 18 MRA meeting at the Carolinian Utt in Garapan.
The 2021 Expert Class champion taking the mantle of leadership of MRA comes as the association is getting ready to usher in the highly anticipated 2024 season.
Joining Cruz in the new leadership team of MRA are vice president Paul Guerrero, secretary Amanda Cruz, and treasurer David Burger.
Cruz and company will spearhead MRA as it’s about to kick off the new season with great anticipation. Starting in 2024, the motocross club will be increasing its monthly races from seven to nine.
Skipping the traditional January race, MRA will now make its point race series debut on Feb. 18 at 10am sharp at the Cowtown Race Track.
Cepeda wished Cruz and the new leadership team the best of luck as they guide MRA to a new phase in its growth since being revived in 2020.
“Under the guidance of our new leadership, MRA is set to soar to new heights. President Ellery Cruz has garnered unwavering support from both the esteemed board members and our dedicated membership. Together with the rest of the leadership team at the helm, we are in the hands of a truly exceptional team,” he said.
Cepeda added that Cruz and company can continue to rely on the support of the MRA board made up of directors Justis “Cuki” Alvarez, Bridgette Camacho, Dave Celis, Ray Yumul, and himself, who will now wear the title of immediate past president.
“With such a talented and passionate group, the future of MRA has never looked brighter,” he added.
Before taking a bow for years of service as president of MRA, Cepeda took the opportunity to implore the community to continue to support the MRA.
“This is where dreams are made and champions are born. Get ready to witness the heart-pounding excitement of the nine points series races, as our fearless competitors push their limits to claim victory. So, buckle up and prepare for an electrifying season filled with high-speed thrills, nail-biting moments, and unforgettable memories. The 2024 MRA season is here, and it’s time to unleash the excitement!”
