MadFlex, Hybrid Shop reward top players with limited-edition jerseys
MadFlex Basketball has rewarded its top athletes with free limited-edition jerseys with help from local uniform maker Hybrid Shop and its owner James Rabauliman.
Dexter Tenorio, who heads the basketball academy, said several of their members recently received free jerseys for excelling not only in basketball but also in motocross and weightlifting.
Leading the list is Charlz Sanchez who was part of the Shirley’s Coffee Shop team that won the TanHoldings Inter-Company League. He also starred for the Marianas High School team that won 2023-2024 IT&E Interscholastic Boys High School Basketball League championship.
Christian Lucero, Jezpher Navarro, and Onick Ragbonshe also received free MadFlex jerseys for winning the 3X3 tournament twice as part of the CNMI National Team 17U squad.
John Lucero, Aiden Sumor Gimed, and Andrei Derek Tenorio also were rewarded for helping Francisco M. Sablan Middle School to the 2022-2023 IT&E Interscholastic Middle School Basketball League championship. Tenorio was also NMSA Athlete of the Month in August 2022. Gimed was also recognized for winning a silver medal in the 2024 Oceania Weightlifting Championships.
Jerico Manuel also got a free jersey for helping Hopwood Middle School to a championship in 2024. T.J. Ferrer, meanwhile, also got a free jersey for topping the Mini II Class of the Motocross Racing Association.
“Thank you, MadFlex for putting up with the kids and guiding them in the right path, inside and outside the basketball court. Shoutout to all the student-athletes. May you tackle all your battles head on, do your best, embrace the grind, and be a great,” said Rabauliman, who gave a $300 discount to MadFlex for the complete sets of uniforms.
“I want to give back. I was a student-athlete once with no income. So, I had no extra money to buy my own jersey. Now that I have my own print shop, I am able to give back to the community. So, I thought I should donate the jerseys to the MadFlex program. I saw that Mr. Tenorio is teaching about 100 kids under his program. What a way to reward the kids who excel by giving them limited-edition jerseys!” he added.
Tenorio, for his part, thanked Rabauliman for his generous discount that he considers a donation already—all as a reward for his players’ perseverance and hard work, on and off the basketball—and in the case of Ferrer and Gimed in other sports.
“This is a big thing specially for kids who not only pour in their hard work but also time to the sport they love. Of course, they also have to do good in school. Kudos to James and Hybrid Shop for helping us give this incentive to our kids,” he added.
