Kanoa FC, Hana FC notch wins in MSL 1, 2

Kanoa Football Club in the Marianas Soccer League 1 and 2 notched wins, while Hana FC also won their match in MSL last Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Kanoa in MSL 1 silenced the Men’s Development Team, 7-0, last Wednesday. The first half was commanded solely by Kanoa as they scored in two back-to-back goals by Brian Lubao and Paul Lizama. The Development Team couldn’t catch up and majority of the possession remained with Kanoa.

While the Development Team remained scoreless, Kanoa’s Markus Toves scored two, followed by another goal from Ruben Guerrero before the first half was over, making it five to nil.

Two more goals would score by way of Lizama and Daniell Pablo in the last minutes of the second half, with the Development Team conceding as they couldn’t catch a break at the net.

In Kanoa’s game last Sunday, they defeated Paire FC, 5-1, for another win in MSL 1. Kanoa’s Andrew Omelau drew first blood in the first minute, but it was immediately evened up from a goal by Paire’s Jordan Ruiz.

However, that was all Paire wrote, as they went on to be scoreless for the rest of the game, while Kanoa added four more.

The Kanoa team in MSL 2 also won after they blanked Paire FC, 2-0. Dhiraj Chhetri and Carl Salas were Kanoa’s two goals in the first half.

In Hana’s game, they slipped past Matansa FC, 2-1, last Friday in MSL 2. It was an even match up as both teams couldn’t find the back of the net, with minutes passing by and not a single goal in the first half.

Finally, Hana’s Dong Ik Jang let one fly and got one on the board in the 28th minute. There was a lot of back-and-forth on the pitch again until Matansa tied the game up in the 36th minute from a goal by Imtiaz Nadim.

Now it was a race to whoever could break the tie and hold on as time quickly expired. Hana’s Scott Kim delivered the final blow in the 39th minute to take back the lead, 2-1. Matansa conceded as the match went on without another chance at the goal for them.
