Choju only undefeated team left in Legends hoops
Choju is the only undefeated team left in the Legends Sports Association Invitational Basketball League Season 2.
They won their fifth straight game after they blew out Best Deal, 111-72 last Sunday at the Gillette Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Gualo Rai.
It was youth versus experience and Choju showed that they’re the team to beat this season as they out-gassed Best Deal from the get-go.
The first half saw some back-and-forth action that kept Choju a little close—less than a 10-point gap throughout, but turnovers and defensive mishaps set Best Deal back into the double-digit margin in the second half.
A few minutes into the second half, Chujo began to pull away further into the lead as Gerald Mamis dealt two straight threes, followed up by two more threes from Jay Art Palmes and Brandon Babauta.
Best Deal had wasted opportunities because of Choju’s man-to-man defense, and they failed to close the gap toward the end. It was a physically exhausting game and Best Deal were a frequent flier to the free throw line, with a lot of their points made from there in the second half.
This didn’t stop Choju’s impenetrable defense, and coupled with their razor-sharp shooting, left Best Deal in their dust. Palmes went on to rack up 18 points, followed by Kaipo Dikito’s 17, and Junior Aguon’s 15.
Best Deal’s Jeter Medina was a one-man show as he put up 24 markers, while Ronald Rueda was the only other player in double digits with 16.
In other results that night, La Mesa Kusina defeated Napa Auto Parts, 93-82.
In last Saturday’s results, Premier Builders edged Savemore, 94-86, and Taxpro/Triple L slipped past Longshot, 92-90. Last Thursday, KagBros trounced Elite Force, 72-59, and Yuman beat out Bourbon Bar & Cafe, 85-83. Last Tuesday, TanHoldings beat Stag, 87-62, and Unity Trade won over Live 2 Live, 72-62.
Choju leads Bracket A standings with their undefeated five-win record, followed by Unity Trade and Premier Builders’ 3-2; Best Deal and Bourbon Bar & Cafe are at 2-2; Yuman is at 2-3; Savemore has a 1-3 record; and Live 2 Live have four losses.
TanHoldings and KagBros are atop Bracket B with 4-1 records each; Taxpro/Triple L is at 3-2; Longshot and Elite Force are at 2-2 each; Lamesa Kusina has a 2-3 record; Stag is at 1-3; and Napa Auto Parts are winless at four losses.
