Tokahao blasts Saipal, 17-4
Tokahao blasted Saipal, 17-4, in the continuation of the 2024 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association master’s league last Sunday at the Dandan Softball Field.
Six runs came in the first inning for Tokahao and went through their whole lineup while Saipal was still getting their bearings straight. By the second, Saipal had scored just two runs for a 2-6 game.
Tokahao’s Jojo Attao ensured a quick second and third inning as Saipal only got one man on base, but Tokahao’s offense went kaput as well. The only reprieve was their four-run lead, and after another quiet fourth inning by Saipal, Tokahao could breathe again.
Tokahao went on to score five in the fourth, two more in the fifth, and wrapped up the game with four in the last inning. Only two more runs would be scored by Saipal in the fifth inning.
Mark Villagomez went a perfect 4-for-4 and scored four runs, while Clint Quitugua and Geoff Cruz scored three runs each for Tokahao.
Sufa 20, Man Amigos 14
Sufa pummeled Man Amigos, 20-14.
After a quiet first inning, Man Amigos’ bats came alive in the second inning and just went wild from there alongside an equally as fiery Sufa.
Man Amigos’ Jess Guerrero started the ball rolling with a two-run jack in the second, followed by three runs in the third, and four in the fourth. Jun Palacios then went on to add two in the last inning from another two-run dinger, just before three runs scored in the fifth and sixth inning.
However, it wasn’t enough as Sufa scored the much needed five runs in the sixth that was enough to hold on to the W.
Sufa’s J.J. Cabrera contributed a homer, followed by back-to-back homers by Paul Salalila and Mario Aguon in the fifth inning.
Hagu La’mun 33, Wazzup 15
It was a run-frenzy game, but Hagu La’mun posted the most and won, 33-15.
The second inning seemed to stretch on forever as Hagu La’mun scored the bulk of their runs—nine, with a 3-run homer by Jerome Delos Santos. The fourth inning was dragged out too as they scored eight, making the game, 24-10.
Wazzup went on to score just five more runs, while Hagu La’mun continued to pound on Wazzup’s pitcher, Bruce Laniyo.
After another run-filled seventh inning, with a grand slam by Eric Tudela, Wazzup conceded and lost by a margin of 18 runs.
Asahi 10, Peliliu 9
Asahi slipped past Peliliu, 10-9.
Asahi scored all their runs in the first four innings of the game, which managed to hold on despite a rallying Peliliu.
Peliliu came close after a three-run homer by Walter Macaranas that made it 9-10, but they failed to score and left runners stranded on base, which gave the W to Asahi.
Redmen 12, Tuturamz 0
The Redmen silenced Tuturamz, 12-0.
Mike Tomokane added to their one run lead in the second with a homer. They would score seven runs in that inning for a big 8-0 lead.
The Redmen went on to score one in the fourth from a solo shot by Lefty Shiro, then another homer in the fifth from Jimmy Manalo. They would score two more runs after, and cement their 12-0 win as Tuturamz failed to round the bases.
Tuturamz had only nine hits throughout the game.
Results of the women’s division will be posted in the next issues of Saipan Tribune.
