Chamber swears in new board member

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed the newest addition to its board of directors in a swearing-in ceremony at the Guma Hustisia’s Supreme Court.

Docomo Pacific’s senior account manager for enterprise sales, Kevin McCale, was sworn in last Monday as the Chamber’s newest board member. McCale fills the seat of former board member Donna Krum, who resigned from the board last January.

According to Chamber president Joseph C. Guerrero, McCale was chosen to take over the position because he received one of the highest votes during the last Chamber board members’ election.

“The vacancy comes after the resignation of former board member Donna Krum. Kevin was part of the last election, and he was the second person with the highest votes so we offered him a chance to serve on the board again, which he accepted and we are very grateful,” he said.

Guerrero said he has full confidence in McCale’s ability to contribute to the team as he is no rookie to the board.

“Kevin has been on the Chamber board several years ago before so we’re basically welcoming him back to the Chamber board. He’s been very helpful in the past, especially in our golf tournaments and other events, so we’re happy he’s back. We expect him to continue to help the board carry out its initiatives. As you know, we’re faced with many challenges in the business community, so any and all help from our board members to promote our policies can change things around and is most welcomed. He’ll be a part of that,” he said.

McCale said in a statement he looks forward to doing the best he can to represent the CNMI business community.

“For the most part, I look forward to representing the business community the best I can and to help out where I can. I was a member previously, about 10 years ago, and I want to continue to try and engage with the Chamber and see where I can be of use,” he said.

When asked what challenges he aims to tackle first as a part of the Chamber board, McCale said he wants to help Chamber improve the state of commerce in the CNMI.

“I’m looking at ways I can contribute, what ways the Chamber could improve the state of commerce in the CNMI,” he said.
