Meet me for Marvelous Matcha at The Tsubaki Tower

TUMON, Guam—The Tsubaki Tower invites matcha aficionados and fans to join them for the resort’s new Marvelous Matcha Afternoon Tea service, featuring authentic matcha tea flown in from Fukuoka, Japan.

“Our Marvelous Matcha Afternoon Tea is a celebration of all things green tea. We are collaborating with a well-respected and award-winning tea purveyor, Chajiyu Kukan, in Fukuoka, Japan,” said Ken Yanagisawa, general manager of The Tsubaki Tower. “In essence, this afternoon tea experience is a celebration of the beautiful city of Fukuoka and its rich history steeped in tea traditions. This collaboration will better connect Guam and Fukuoka through delightful flavors and sweet experiences.”

As part of the Marvelous Matcha Afternoon Tea experience, The Tsubaki Tower added new matcha desserts and pastries to its afternoon tea menu, such as the Matcha Opera Cake, the Matcha Mont Blanc, Matcha Cheese Tart, and Matcha Macaron, to name a few. Each guest receives a tiered tower of matcha desserts and a delectable selection of savory bites, with the Wagyu Beef and Truffle Sandwich and the Lobster Quiche as guest favorites. To accompany the pastries, The Tsubaki Tower selected varieties of Japanese teas to complete the experience—Gyokuro, which is grown in the shade and known for its sweet flavor, and Hojicha, a roasted green tea known for its nutty, roasted flavor and light green and golden color.

“We invite the community to experience our new afternoon tea service throughout the month of March to enjoy authentic Yame Matcha selected by Chajiyu Kukan. Yame Matcha is grown in Yame City, located in the southern part of Fukuoka Prefecture. This area is known for producing award-winning Gyokuro teas, which are the highest class of green tea in Japan,” Yanagisawa added.

The Marvelous Matcha Afternoon Tea is served from 2pm to 4pm in the Fanhale lobby lounge overlooking Tumon Bay, making it an unforgettable experience for couples, families with children, or groups of friends. The cost per person is $40 (plus 10% service charge) and available while supplies last. Reservations can be made 48 hours in advance for parties of two or more by calling (671) 969-5200.

Yanagisawa said, “We are bringing the flavors of Fukuoka to Guam, and hopefully, we will entice residents to travel to this beautiful city and experience its tea culture in person.”

Additionally, on March 17, the Hinekka Deli, located at the lobby level, will be serving Matcha Banana Frappes. Casa Oceano will also feature matcha pastries during Sunday Brunch and dinner, while supplies last.

The Tsubaki Tower is Guam’s newest luxury resort experience. The Tsubaki Tower’s mission is to be an authentic ambassador of Guam’s culture, natural beauty, and unique history.

Located along the shores of stunning Gun Beach, the 27-story resort will offer guests panoramic views of Guam’s famous sunsets and the warm blues of the Pacific Ocean.

The resort is nestled in the northern part of Tumon Bay and features 340 breathtaking oceanfront rooms and suites, all within walking distance of Guam’s most beautiful white-sand beaches and a world-class marine preserve.
