Bolley Ballerz still undefeated after Round 6

The game of the week in Round 6 of the 2024 Rocball Tournament at the Marianas High School Gymnasium was between Bolley Ballerz and Topshakaz.

The Bolley Ballerz won the first set, 25-13, but Topshakaz returned the favor in the second set, 24-17. After two sets of play the Bolley Ballerz had 42 points and Topshakaz had 37 points. But in Rocball a team cannot win a game in a losing set even if their total points scored is more than their opponent’s.

This game was forced into a 5-point overtime set where a team could win a set without the serve or by scoring a goal before.

Topshakaz served the ball first in the overtime set because Bolley Ballerz served the ball to start the game. The Bolley Ballerz scored a point off Topshakaz’s serve and scored a goal on their first serve to win the game. The Bolley Ballerz’s overtime win made them the only undefeated team for the season.

In other games, Nesiab Power defeated the Aces, 32-27; Baddie-Z beat Quest, 46-25; and Chagii Fahn got the better of Rizzlers, 39 -32.

The Heavy Hitters after six rounds of play are Jerome Manzon of Baddie-Z with six 3-point goals, Trey Igisomar of Baddie-Z with eight 2-point backcourt scoring plays as his team’s goalie, and Miguel Castro of the Rizzlers and Yeshqiah Coleman of Topshalaz each have scored 10 2-point aces.

In the team standings, Bolley Ballerz sports an immaculate 6-0 record, followed by Nesian Power, Topshakaz, and Spicey Locals at 4-1 apiece. Quest and Baddie-Z are tied at 3-3, while Border Control and Aces are at 2-4. Chagii Fahn has won a game out of five tries, while Rizzlers is still looking for its first win after six games. (PR)
