CNMI GOP endorses King-Hinds for US delegate

In a significant development ahead of the scheduled April 13, 2024 primary election, the CNMI Republican Party is proud to announce attorney Kimberlyn King-Hinds as the official Republican candidate for the November election to the U.S. House of Representatives.

This announcement comes following John Oliver Gonzales’ decision to withdraw from the primary contest. Upon receiving official communication from Ambrosio T. Ogumoro, chairman of the Committee to Elect Gonzales for Congress, confirming Gonzales’ withdrawal, the CNMI Republican Party took decisive action.

President Diego Benavente expressed his congratulations to King-Hinds, recognizing her dedication and readiness to represent the party.

“Kimberlyn is a proven advocate with a strong track record in legal practice and federal governance, especially concerning environmental protection, military development, and economic growth,” said Benavente.

King-Hinds, having declared her intention to seek the Republican nomination on Feb. 29, 2024, brings extensive experience and a committed vision for the CNMI’s future. Her campaign will focus on key issues that resonate with our community and align with Republican values. In light of Gonzales’ withdrawal, Benavente highlighted the importance of the primary as a platform for voter engagement but affirmed the party’s adherence to its bylaws and principles.

The CNMI Republican Party remains committed to a transparent and inclusive electoral process, inviting all registered voters to participate in shaping the future of the Commonwealth.

According to the RPNMIA Bylaws, the party emphasizes the right of its members to vote in primary elections, a principle that will continue to guide the nomination process. In response to the unique circumstances of this election cycle, Benavente announced the cancellation of the primary, with King-Hinds standing as the uncontested nominee for U.S. delegate. A formal notification has been sent to King-Hinds, acknowledging her as the CNMI Republican Party’s endorsed candidate.

The party looks forward to supporting her candidacy and engaging with the electorate on critical issues facing our Commonwealth.
