Number of weekly arrests decreases

The number of arrests the Department of Public Safety has made in the past week has decreased based on the most recent police blotter made public by the department.

Last Tuesday, DPS released its weekly police blotter detailing the number of calls made to the department, the number of incidences responded to, and the number of arrests made in the past week.

According to the police blotter prepared by DPS spokesperson Fred Sato dated April 7-13, DPS officers made a total of four arrests during this period.

When compared to the blotter released for the week before, from March 24 to 30, DPS officers made a total of 10 arrests.

Then, the week before that, from March 17 to 23, DPS made a total of 12 arrests.

Prior to that week, from March 10 to 16, a total of 14 arrests were made according to the police blotter issued by DPS.

Based on the previous blotters issued by the department, a significant decrease in arrests have been made dating in the last month.

In related news, from April 7 to 13, DPS responded to 92 criminal incidents and 15 traffic-related cases from April 7 to 13, 2024.

According to the police blotter, of the 107 incidents, 44 were 911 service calls to the police.

Police responded to two assault incidents; five assault and battery incidents; two nuisance incidents; four domestic violence incidents; 42 disturbing the peace incidents; six criminal mischief incidents; one illegal possession incident; three burglary incidents; and 25 theft incidents.

As for traffic incidents, DPS said it responded to six auto-auto crash incidents; three auto-ran off roadway incidents; one reckless driving incident; one driving under the influence incident; and four auto fixed object incidents.
