DPS responds to over 84 calls from April 28 to May 4

The Department of Public Safety responded to a total of 84 incidences from April 28 to May 4.

In the spirit of transparency and as part of its goal to build back its relationship with the community, DPS recently released its police blotter report dated April 28 to May 4.

According to the report, within the period DPS responded to 84 reported incidences.

Specifically, of the 84 incidences, 69 were criminal incidents, 14 were traffic-related cases, and one was a distressed vessel incident.

In addition, within the period, six individuals were arrested.

For the criminal incidents, police responded to one assault incident; three assault and battery incidents; one nuisance incident; three domestic violence incidents; 32 disturbing the peace incidents; two vandalism incidents; eight criminal trespass incidents; one child abuse/neglect incident; three burglary incidents; and 15 theft incidents.

As for traffic incidents, DPS said it responded to nine auto-auto crash incidents; two auto parked vehicle incidents; and three auto fixed object incidents.

In addition, DPS Boating Safety responded to one distressed vessel incident during the period.

As part of DPS’ goals, it issues weekly police blotter reports that detail the number of reports made in the last week, what incidents were reported, and how many arrests were made in that week.

DPS spokesperson Fred Sato previously said the numbers provided based on the blotter reports are calls made to DPS and responses of its officers.

“All active criminal complaints are taken, then forwarded to our Criminal Investigation Bureau. All traffic-related incidents, including fatality reported crashes, are forwarded to our Highway Patrol Investigation units,” he said.
