Kids’ Athletics Day tomorrow; #WorldMileChallenge until May 19

Join Northern Marianas Athletics in celebrating 2024 World Athletics Kids’ Athletics Day tomorrow, May 7, 5pm at the Oleai Sports Complex track and field and also join the #WorldMileChallenge from May 1-19.

The events for Kids’ Athletics Day are kids’ athletics, relays, and a 4-minute race clock challenge to see how far you can run in four minutes.

World Athletics, according to NMA, is launching the challenge ahead of this year’s Kids’ Athletics Day, which is an annual celebration of children and young people being active and participating in athletics.

There is no minimum age limit to join the challenge, however, all entrants 10 years and under must be accompanied by a registered parent/guardian for the entire duration of the race, and the accompanying adult takes full responsibility for the safety of the entrant.

“In honor of the 70th anniversary of Roger Bannister breaking the four-minute mile on May 6, 1954, this year’s focus is on running, jogging or walking a mile. We are aiming to ‘Run the World’ one mile at a time,” said NMA on their registration website at https://raceroster.com/events/2024/88976/world-mile-challenge-2024.
