Chamber announces winners of golf tourney

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce Nick Sablan Jr. as the winner of the hole-in-one contest during the Chamber of Commerce 15th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on April 27, 2024. Sablan showcased remarkable golf skills by achieving a hole-in-one on hole No. 13, which posed a challenging distance of 180 yards. As a recognition of his exceptional achievement, Sablan won a brand new 2024 Nissan Versa SR sponsored by Joeten Motors, along with a $10,000 cash prize sponsored by TurnKey Solutions.

The Chamber extends congratulations to winners in various categories of the tournament. Anthony Tomokane and Alvin Salas secured first place in the double peoria category, earning an $800 cash prize. Eric Lisua and Ben Pelisamen claimed second place, winning $650, while Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho and Xerxes Camacho secured third place, receiving $500. In the low gross category, Joey Dela Cruz and J.J. Atalig clinched first place, earning $800, followed by Peter “Dung” Tenorio and Brian Camacho in second place with $650 and Dominic Kieffer and Zhimin Jin in third place with $500.

Moreover, Anthony Tomokane excelled in the accurate drive category, while Dennis Cruz, Amier Younis, Paul Reyes, and J.J. Atalig showcased outstanding performances in the closest to oin contests on holes No. 3, No. 7, No. 13, and No. 17 respectively, each awarded a $150 cash prize.

The tournament witnessed a remarkable turnout of dedicated golfers, whose participation and support have greatly contributed to the SCC’s scholarship initiatives. The tournament provided an opportunity for players to showcase their golf skills while contributing to a noble cause—providing educational opportunities for the youth of the CNMI.

“We are most especially thankful for the support of Franco Santos and Ben Babauta as the golf consultants of the tournament, our volunteers for the day that included high school students, college students, Chamber members, and members of our community who took time out of their day to help with the success of our event. A special thanks to Laolao Bay Golf & Resort staff for all their accommodations in the coordination of our tournament and lastly to the Chamber board of directors for their unwavering support, and especially to my team, Riley Buenaventura and Jaime Itibus, as well as our PSS co-op students, Miracle Aldan, Jazabelle Sumor, and James Castro, who all devoted many after hours to coordinating the tournament and ensuring all our golfers and guests were taken cared of. We look forward to another successful tournament next year,” said Chamber executive director Kim Camacho.

The success of the event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors.
