Taylor Germance is Home Run Derby king

Taylor Germance is the king of the 2024 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association master’s division Home Run Derby last Sunday at the Dandan Softball Field.

After the round of games earlier in the day, the Home Run Derby was set up for sluggers willing to showcase their strength and hit souvenirs out of the ballpark.

Asahi’s Germance dominated the derby in the second and last round after he out-scoring teammate Dom Hideo. Germance hit four homers to secure first place, while Hideo hit two for second place.

Third place went to Tuturamz’ Mike Techur after he hit four dingers in the first round.

Germance and Hideo were tied at five moon shots in the first round to advance to the second and final stage.

All 12 participants had 10 balls and tries throughout the derby.

The champion Germance received one Michelob Ultra bat and a half case of beer. The runner-up Hideo received a half case of beer, and the third place Techur received one case of beer.

Results of the games last Sunday will be posted in the next issues of Saipan Tribune.
