Macapagal-Arroyo visits Saipan
Former Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be on Saipan for a two-day visit, as she will serve as guest of honor in the LPK Cup, a football tournament that will be held at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville tomorrow, July 18.
Macapagal-Arroyo is the honorary chairwoman of the Tuloy Football Club, one of the four teams that will be competing in the LPK Cup. The three other teams seeing action in the LPK Cup are Shonan Bellmare from Japan, Chelsea FC Soccer School Hong Kong, and the NMI Women’s National Team. Tuloy FC is a football organization that competes in the pro Philippine Football League, and its players—both males and females—have played for the Philippine National
Team. Tuloy FC will kick off the games in the LPK Cup this Thursday, as it takes on Shonan Bellmare for the 4pm match.
Macapagal-Arroyo is the highest-ranked Philippine government official to visit Saipan and her presence on the island is a testament to the strong relationship between the Philippines and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and their willingness to experience and embrace each other’s unique cultures and traditions.
