Lions Clubs conduct beach cleanup
Lions Clubs International District 204 Region 2 held its monthly beach cleanup last Saturday morning in the Garapan area.
Last Saturday marked the start of the region beach cleanup for the lion year 2024-2025, and 60 members participated in the monthly beach cleanup from Garapan Fishing Base to Carolinian Utt. According to the new leadership of Region 2, the monthly beach cleanup schedule will be modified.
Lions Clubs International District 204 Region is made up of 12 clubs, with each club membership numbers range from 20-60, which is why it was divided into three zones. Last year, the monthly beach cleanup was done as a region project, but with the new schedule, after last Saturday, for the next month it will alternately be done per zone and the region cleanup will resume after, and this will be the cycle for the whole lion year, according to new region chair Marcelo Masilungan.
“Each club has its own adopted pavilion or bus stop, we don’t want to burden all clubs to show up every month at beach cleanup, we did alternate so each club will be able to do their own Lions Clubs International global causes on their own separate to region projects, we will promote and empower more leaders, healthy clubs, because I believe a healthy members, healthy clubs equal to a healthy district,” said Masilungan.
Following the cleanup, a breakfast gathering took place with the region chairman welcoming members to the new Lion Year and recognizing the past region chair Annamae Adaza, as well as zone chair sArgie Buensalido and Arceli Lizama.
The activity was concluded with the awarding of a certificates of appreciation to Xtreme Fitness 670 for leading the Lions Clubs’ parade at last week’s Liberation Day Parade.
