Palacios, Apatang declare August Nat’l Immunization Awareness Month

Gov. Arnold I. Palacios, Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang, Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. CEO Esther L. Muña, along with Education Commissioner Dr. Lawrence Camacho and CHCC management and staff attended the proclamation signing for National Immunization Awareness Month.

NIAM is an annual observance held in August to highlight the importance of vaccinations for people of all ages while also aiming to educate the public about the critical role immunizations play in preventing serious diseases across all age groups. NIAM also highlights the importance of partnership to increase vaccination access, confidence, and overall prevention of vaccine preventable diseases.

“Our theme this year, ‘I protect you. You protect me,’ embodies the communal spirit of our island, underscoring the mutual responsibility we have in safeguarding each other’s health,” stated Keanna Villagomez Lin, Policies, Partnerships, and Communications coordinator at CHCC.

Emman Parian, program manager for the Immunization Program at CHCC, added, “NIAM provides an excellent opportunity to continue our year-round efforts to raise awareness and educate the community about the importance of immunizations. It also serves to acknowledge the diligent work of our program staff, healthcare providers, internal and external partners, and the community in preventing disease outbreaks through the use of vaccines and other preventive measures.”

As summer is nearing an end, CHCC and its Immunization Program is reminding the community about the importance of vaccinations during National Immunization Awareness Month.

Throughout August, CHCC will offer:

Vaccinations for all ages.

Collaborations with the CHCC Mobile Clinic.

5K Half Marathon and Fun Run in Collaboration with Run Saipan on Aug. 31, 2024.

Walk, Run, Roll and Health Fair on Rota on Aug. 24, 2024.

Protecting our community’s health and wellbeing starts with each individual. CHCC encourages everyone to stay up-to-date on their vaccinations and help spread awareness about the importance of immunization.
