‘It’s Not That Serious, Par!’ tickles the crowd

The “It’s Not That Serious, Par!” comedy show seriously brought down the house with laughter last Saturday night at a packed Royal Taga Ballroom of the Saipan World Resort.

After the success of the SoMe Awards, the island’s first social media awards last February, PalmTrio670 staged a comedy show that featured podcaster Zori Talks, local comedian Chainaman, and Content Creator 2024 SoMe awardee NettyCee. The show was hosted by Guam’s Funny Memes’ Gene Castro and Songi Sessions, who flew in from Guam just for the show.

The tickets were sold at $30 and 400 tickets were sold, according to Jefferson Mateo, co-owner of PalmTrio 670. The door opened at 6pm and the show started past 7pm, opened by Guam Funny Meme and Songi Sessions.

It was followed by a funny video bromance and skit of SoMe 2024 Podcast of Year awardee Zori Talks. The duo is known for their good positivity, local boys that bring island vibes and just talk about whatever they want to talk about.

Saipan digital influencer, rapper, and foodie comedienne started her part of the show with a song number. Her performance shows that in general, life can be too much but turning it into comedy, rather than crying about problems might as well laugh at it.

Bakaden The Illusionist then performed an intermission number where he juggled and balanced blocks while dancing to an upbeat music. He was followed by a dance number by youth group called Profound Bandits.

The last part of the show was by the known local comedian Chainaman. He mentioned during the press conference last Thursday that he was happy to be part of the show because normally his performance is the opening act. From the opening of his set, the crowd was raucously laughing until the end of his set.

The show ended at 10:30pm, and according to Mateo, they received a lot of good feedback that has encouraged them to make another show, and perhaps the same show in Guam.
