Crowne Plaza Resort to host Voices of the Marianas grand finals
The Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan will be the venue for the semifinals and grand finale of the Save the Music Foundation-CNMI’s Voices of the Marianas Singing Competition.
The group made the announcement last week at the Garapan hotel where officials of STMF-CNMI shared their appreciation for Crowne Plaza Resort for their partnership.
“Establishing the partnership with Crowne Plaza has been one of the things that we’ve been trying to set up even before the whole season started,” said STMF-CNMI executive director and acting vice president Donovan Castro “The fact that we’ve actually ironed out the details is overwhelming and we’re very appreciative that they reached out and wanted to collaborate with us. We look forward to doing more stuff with Crowne Plaza.”
Crowne Plaza Resort general manager Clayton Darlington shared the genesis of their team up with STMF-CNMI.
“This initially started with a catch-up with the Indigenous Affairs Office and the NMI Museum of Culture and History. The topic about the Voices of Marianas came up and we have this program called Giving for Good with IHG. This September we celebrate Giving for Good Month with IHG and we just thought the time was also perfect to form this collaboration and just play our part with the Voices of Marianas. Music, especially the arts, is extremely important among our local community, especially to our youngsters. We’re happy to be a part of this and make a difference and continue our efforts in getting involved and forming these collaborations within the community,” he said.
The competition’s elimination round is scheduled for Sept. 7 at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe and the semifinals and grand finale on Sept. 14 and 28, respectively, at Crowne Plaza Resort. Each show is from 1pm to 6pm.
Castro shared that tickets should be on sale soon, but interested individuals can reach out to anyone from STMF-CNMI, or check out their socials on Facebook for more information.
“The competition this year has some great characters. There’s this one guy that just sounds like an old soul, but he’s so young, and I’m so surprised that he’s singing at that range, and there’s many others. I just want to leave it at that. You guys have got to buy tickets for this event to catch these guys, and it’s not going to be livestreamed online.”
