Santos scorches in August tourney
Ronnie Santos topped the Fil-Taga Golfers Association’s August Ace of the Month Tournament that was held last Aug. 18 at the Coral Ocean Resort in Agingan.
The 62-year-old Division of Revenue & Tax staff shot a net score of 69 after firing a 40 and 44 in the front and back nine. The 15-handicapper had a gross of 84.
The Taytay, Rizal in the Philippines native said course conditions last Aug. 18 at the Larry Nelson-designed golf course were fair.
“I had a lot of best holes because I managed to do a lot of chipping near the hole and made several 1-putts to save par,” said Santos when asked about his round.
Dan Ganacias came second to Santos at a stroke back with his net 70 (43-38, 81), while Edgar Abalos came third with his net 74 following a line of 45-41 and gross 86.
A total of 18 Fil-Taga Golfers Association members took part in the club’s August tournament and the rest are the following with their net scores in parenthesis—Mike Cruz (74), Jess Yumul (74), Adony Matutino (75), William Retardo (75), Ruben Avendano (76), Das Krishnan (76), Felix Ano (77), Rene Batallones (77), Emil Padernal (78), Henry Bautista (79), Albert Pajarillaga (79), Freddie Cataluna (80), Romy Cayetano (80), and Juhn Cayetano (90).
The par 3 winners were Retardo, Krishnan, Abalos, and Padernal.
