An aging animist’s ambling account
Animism (from anima, soul, or spirit in Latin) is the belief that almost every place, every animal, every plant and every natural phenomenon has awareness and feelings, and can communicate directly with humans.
The waters parted when Moses struck them
after a teenage wedding many flowers wilted
the rivers run the rivers flood and we know
during winter the rivers freeze and then flow
in summer creeks run dry brains and drains slow
springtime in Paris Jenny’s pears poach in wine
Johnny jump ups and crocus usher in the spring
Mickey Mouse Minnie Mouse, Goofy in the house
groundhogs (woodchucks) their hibernation begin
on Groundhog Day their shadow may be thin
some hibernate on the couch all year round
of birds and bees, they seldom hear a sound
losing touch with their environment around
TV weather news is what they hear and see
they can learn about weather outside for free
hurricanes typhoons and cyclones come and go
over oceans with a large deadly circular flow.
