GMS Multicultural Day highlights global cultures
Green Meadow School hosted its annual Multicultural Day last Oct. 11, transforming the Chalan Kanoa campus into a lively celebration of global cultures. The event featured cultural booths, dance performances, and national costumes, with countries like Japan, Thailand, Korea, the Philippines, the USA, Hawaii, Mexico, and China represented. The full-day celebration fostered a deep appreciation for the richness and diversity of world traditions, engaging students, faculty, and families alike.
Students from first to eighth grade created country-themed booths, showcasing the history, customs, and cuisines of their selected nations. Each booth offered visitors a taste of the country’s unique heritage, from Japan’s iconic art to Mexico’s vibrant traditions. The Philippines, USA, Korea, Hawaii, Thailand, and China also brought their colorful cultures to life through creative displays and presentations. Judges evaluated the booths based on creativity, accuracy, and engagement, awarding prizes to those who demonstrated exceptional effort and detail.
Preschool students entertained the crowd with traditional dances from various cultures. Their joyful performances, representing countries like the Philippines, China, and Hawaii, captured the attention of both attendees and judges, who evaluated the dances based on choreography, cultural representation, and performance quality.
Adding to the multicultural spirit, students, teachers, and parents proudly wore national costumes from around the world, contributing to the colorful and festive atmosphere. Judges were on hand to assess these stunning outfits, recognizing the most creative and culturally authentic costumes worn by participants. This aspect of the event allowed everyone in the school community to personally engage with and celebrate global traditions.
The day concluded with the announcement of winners for the best booths, dance performances, and national costumes, marking the event as an unforgettable learning experience for all. (PR)
