Shelter-in-place at Hopwood after student brings handgun
Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Middle School is under a shelter-in-place order following reports that a student allegedly brought a handgun onto campus, according to Department of Public Safety assistant chief of police and ating public information officer Simon T. Manacop.
In response, DPS Criminal Investigation detectives and the Critical Incident Response Team have arrived at the school to address the situation. DPS has requested that parents avoid coming to the campus at this time, allowing law enforcement to carry out its investigation.
