Toys for Tots urges more items for teens

CNMI organizers of the 2024 Toys for Tots campaign are urging community members to donate toys, with a special emphasis on items for teens, a group often overlooked in donations.

Major Diann Rosenfeld, along with Uriah Perez, said that while community support is strong, donations for older teens remain the most challenging. The Toys for Tots Foundation and corporate donations help to supplement gifts in this category.

Logistical challenges also make it difficult for the campaign to receive essential materials like promotional items, collection boxes, and donated toys on time. Shipping delays from the U.S. mainland also mean local volunteers have to get creative, reusing and recycling old materials or decorating cardboard boxes for collection efforts.

Despite these hurdles, the campaign continues to thrive each year due to the generosity of the local community. Despite logistical challenges, the Toys for Tots campaign in Guam and the CNMI continues to ensure that children receive holiday gifts, thanks to the strong support from local donors.

As the campaign progresses, donations can be dropped off at carious collection points across Guam and the CNMI. For those unable to donate toys, financial contributions are also welcome.

The community’s ongoing support is crucial in ensuring the success of the campaign and the joy it brings to children and families during the holiday season.
