Eagles fly high in Bracket 3 of co-ed tourney

Grace Christian Academy Eagles 2 flew high in Bracket 3 of the 2024-2025 PSS-NMBA Interscholastic Co-ed Middle School Badminton League after their first day of games last Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The Eagles garnered the most points to clinch the top spot with six points from six wins. Second place was Tanapag Middle School Tatagas 1 with five points and wins; Francisco Mendiola Sablan Middle School Napu Riders was third at three; and Dandan Middle School Tottots 2 had one.

GCA 2 nearly swept the Tottots 2, but came away with four wins out of five. The Eagles clipped the Tottots wings in the boys/girls doubles and boys/girls singles. Meanwhile, the Tottots took over the mixed doubles event and won to give them their lone point of the day.

The Eagles then matched up against the Napu Riders and won two events out of five. The Eagles had the upper hand in the boys doubles and singles, while FMS was dominant in the girls and doubles, and mixed doubles.

The Eagles roster includes Breanna Lopez, Keala Takeda, Kate Xu, Cody Park, Minato Takahashi, David Zheng, Zabdiel Ong, and Eric Li.

The next round-robin match day with Rota and Tinian middle schools are this Friday, Nov. 8, then Saturday, Nov. 9, then Nov. 16. The Top 6 double elimination round is on Nov. 23, with the championship rounds on Nov. 29.
