Herman’s Family Fun Day finally pushes through

The weather finally cooperated in celebration of Herman’s Modern Bakery’s 80th anniversary Family Fun Day last Saturday at the CPA Airport Field.

The event was originally scheduled for last Oct. 26, but was postponed due to inclement weather.

Heman’s Modern Bakery sales and marketing manager Rudy Guerrero said he is grateful that the event was held on a beautiful day despite the rainy season.

“It’s unfortunate because of the storm, we had an original date but now, the weather is complying with us. So, we’re hoping to have a great time with the community to come out, and you know this is our thanks and our gratitude to the community of the CNMI for supporting us for the last 80 years,” he said.

Guerrero added that Herman’s Modern Bakery is now available in K-Mart Guam.

“We just actually launched the Herman’s in Guam, so Herman’s Modern Bakery is now available in K-Mart in Guam. For our Guam customers, go to K-Mart and find our Herman’s products there.”

Herman’s Modern Bakery president Herman “Junpan” T. Guerrero in his welcome remarks expressed his gratitude to past and present staff for their contributions.

“I would like to welcome all of you, but I also want to thank all our staff from the top to the bottom that has made the difference, and in those also that have served us in the past 80 years, but also the community that has helped us maintain Herman’s Modern Bakery for the past 80 years. Perhaps a lot of them are younger, parents, and grandparents know more about Herman’s bakery,” he said.

He mentioned that some of his siblings were unable to attend due to medical reasons.

Diocese of Chalan Kanoa Father Rey Rosal blessed the event and prayed for the safety and well-being of the guests.

The attendees enjoyed giveaways such as caps, folding chairs, mugs, cup holders, and umbrellas. They lined up for free food and drinks provided by the sponsors such as cotton candy from Benki, assorted drinks from MARPAC, potato swirl and shave ice from Chelu Shave Ice, Tupu Cane Juice, and hamburger sliders, hotdogs and corndogs, cookies, popcorn, fruits, and water from Herman’s Modern Bakery.

Attendees also enjoyed games and activities such as Benki’s trackless train, a bouncy house, power wheels, Bridge Capital’s dunk booth, Herman’s Modern Bakery’s balloon designs, face painting, hula hoops, tic tac toe, lawn darts, ring toss, and cornhole toss. Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services and Department of Public Safety vehicle were also on display and a photo booth by VM was also available.

Former Power 99 DJ Santi “Big Boy” Sablan served as the event’s emcee and entertainment was provided by Paker Yobei. The event concluded with a raffle drawing.
