Chamber holds general membership meeting today

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce invites its members to attend its general membership meeting today, Nov. 13, at the Queen’s Hall of Kensington Hotel Saipan.

Chamber members will receive important updates from the committee chairs about recent activities and progress. Additionally, the 2025-2026 board of directors election will be held.

The Chamber will feature a special presentation by Chamber member Shawna Babauta, Communications and Membership manager at Marianas Alliance of Non-Governmental Organization. Babauta will offer a comprehensive overview of MANGO’s impactful work within the community emphasizing the critical role of non-profit organizations in supporting the region. She will also share how MANGO’s initiatives align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its efforts to improve data collection, ultimately strengthening the effectiveness of non-profits across the region.

According to Babauta, the nonprofit employment is the third-largest workforce in the U.S., following retail and manufacturing, representing approximately 12.5 million jobs, or about 10% of the private workforce. These jobs are primarily concentrated in healthcare, education, and social assistance sectors, making a significant impact on the economy and community well-being.

MANGO’s mission is to nurture the nonprofit community in the CNMI for sustainability by facilitating their growth through guidance, training, and services. Its vision is to have a strong, stable nonprofit sector providing services to the CNMI, increasing overall community health and well-being.

The registration fee for Chamber meeting is $35 for Chamber members and $40 for future members or those invited by Chamber members. It includes lunch, valuable networking opportunities, and the chance to participate in insightful discussions on key developments in the community.
