Win Pacific hoops league individual awardees announced
The MVPs and awardees of the Win Pacific Corp. Invitational Basketball League 2024 were feted at the Gillette Multi-Purpose Gymnasium last Sunday.
Jun Estolas, captain of the masters division and semi open division championship teams, was crowned the MVP for the masters division. He scored a game-high 34 points in the masters finals, while he shot a three in the semi open finals right after.
The champion of the masters division was 670 Gravity, while the runner-up was HBR. Third place was El-Champions and fourth went to One n Win.
The Mythical Five awards were also given. In the masters divisions, the Best Guard awards went to Estolas and Leo Tapay; the Best Forward awardees were Albert Agustin and Brandon Talania; the Best Center was Jerome Directo; and the season MVP was Talania.
Estolas, who played in both the masters and semi open division said that his MVP award was unexpected. He said, “I have a history of knee injuries and at the same time, I’m also old. My opponents are all fast, tall, and young… but I’m very happy that I was recognized by the committee as the best guard for both divisions and masters division MVP.”
In the semi open division, the MVP was sharp shooter Sean Licayan who downed six 3-pointers and one field goal for a total of 20 points.
The champions of the semi open division were SMJ Corp., while the runner-up was Alsa Baso. Third place went to Team Alliana’s, and fourth place was Swisha’s.
The Mythical Five awards for the semi open division were as follows: the Best Guard award went to Estolas once again, and Steve King; the Best Forward awards went to Jude Tengco and Jepoy Tabora; the Best Center was Emman Bondad; and the season MVP was Steve King.
The Best Coach in both divisions was Erwin Lumanlan, who coached 670 Gravity and SMJ Corp. to their titles.
The Sportsmanship Award went to Tsingtao JTM in the masters division, while Umi Shooters won the award in the semi open division.
