Philippine Consul Julia Heidemann has renewed her call on Filipino illegals to come forward and participate in the CNMI limited immunity program.

The program runs through six months, after which an immigration crackdown on illegals is expected to ensue.

So far, only 33 Filipinos have showed up on the first day that the program went into effect on Dec. 2, according to reports from the Department of Labor and Immigration.

It was estimated that up to 1,000 Filipino illegals are in the CNMI.

The immunity program was embraced enthusiastically by the Chinese and Bangladeshis, as evidenced by their huge turnout.
