$150,000 bail for robbery suspect
Superior Court Presiding Judge Edward Manibusan has set a $150,000 cash bail for the temporary release of 28-year-old Thomas Michael H. Ramangmau who was accused of robbing two Japanese senior citizens last week.
Ramangmau was charged with one count of robbery, two counts of assault and battery and one count of theft.
The incident occurred last Dec. 14 in front of Ebisuya bakery in Susupe where 72-year-old Teruko Egoshi and 71-year-old Hissao Egoshi were walking after shopping at Joeten. They were heading back to Saipan Grand Hotel.
According to the report, Ramangmau came from behind, pushed Teruko to the ground and grabbed her purse.
He also assaulted Hissao who was able to hold on to his vehicle.
Ramangmau boarded a Nissan Pathfinder whose license plate was taken by the bakery’s cashier.
The cashier saw the incident and positively identified Ramangmau as the responsible.
Mrs. Egoshi who was also given a photo line-up recognized Ramangmau as the one who assaulted and snatched her waist pouch containing cash.
Ramangmau is currently under a strict supervision of the U.S. Probation Office after his release from prior conviction of federal offense.
He will return to court on Monday, Dec. 28 at 1:30 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.
