The Public School System has cleared two floors at the Nauru building, which its central office occupies, and merged offices to reach its target of $100,000 savings on rental payments.

The Special Education staff, who used to hold office in the sixth floor, have been moved to the third floor, mixed with the staff of other education programs.

Operations of Headstart have also been transfered from Nauru building to its facility in San Antonio.

After a 13.4 percent cut on the education budget, schools demanded that the central office undertake cutbacks.

PSS keeps the fourth floor of Nauru building for the Board of Education.

Acting Fiscal and Budget Officer William Matson earlier proposed that PSS maintain only one floor at Nauru building or relocate.

The BOE had planned to use some of the government houses on Capitol Hill.

But BOE member Anthony Pellegrino said the relocation would be more costly than if PSS were to continue its lease of the Nauru building.
