L&T thanks agencies for coming to aid of workers
Early this morning a number of employees of the L&T garment manufacturing facility in Saipan became ill. The symptoms exhibited by these employees included stomach cramps and vomiting. Based upon the preliminary results of an investigation, the cause of the illness appears to be some form of food poisoning.
The welfare and safety of its employees is the primary concern of L&T. Fortunately, the stricken employees received excellent medical treatment and most of them recovered within a few hours. Numerous private and governmental agencies contributed their time to assist these employees . L&T is grateful for this support.
L&T would like to publicly thank Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio, the Commonwealth Health Center, the Department of Public Health, Dr. Joseph Villagomez, the Department of Public Safety, Commissioner Charles Ingram, the Department of Health Services and the American Red Cross.
L&T is fully cooperating with both local and federal investigators to determine the cause of this incident. During the course of this investigation, L&T closed down the manufacturing facility on Tuesday. L&T has operated a cafeteria for its employees since 1984. This is the first major incident involving its employees.
