Organizers of the Northern Marianas Sports Challenge has scheduled a 5 km fun run on July 10th as part of the activities for the 10-day sport event.

The 5 km challenge run will be conducted by the Northern Marianas Track and Field Federation beginning 6:30 AM in Susupe along Beach Road. The race starts and ends at Kilili Beach Park.

Sports memorabilia will be given to each runner who completes the race, as well as special awards to top finishers.

The walk will be held along Beach Road from the Tank at the Quartermaster Road, finishing at the Kilili Beach Park. The first 100 participants will receive T-shirts.

Pre-registration is recommended and forms are available at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym. Entry fee is $1.00 for Northern Marianas Sports Challenge card holders and $5.00 for non-members.

Organizers are hoping to attract over 300 participants to this fitness event.

Other activities have been lined up for the 10-day event, which begins on July 8.

Sports celebrities from the United States and Japan will participate in the Sports Challenge, an event which organizers hoped would encourage youths to engage in sports and stay away from drugs.

Clinics, golf tournament, discussion with sports personalities and family activities with guest athletes will also be held on Saipan, Rota and Tinian.
