Blistering heat sends North walking South
David North of the US Department of Interior’s OIA has decided to take a long walk South in search of a career change. It would be interesting to find out what prompted him to call it quits. Is it the information being subpoenaed by Congressman Don Young’s House Resources Committee? If so, is the resignation an acknowledgment that he and other cohorts at OIA are allegedly involved in a political scandal so prohibited by federal law?
Well, former OIA director Allen Stayman has cleverly employed a career change. Now he is being touted as “levelheaded” by some neophyte who decided it was perfectly fine to interject where most reasonable people would steer clear of making fools of themselves. How could one make such grave error in judgement when Stayman has donned the halo of the “evil genius” of a federal takeover choicelessly playing dumbfounded water boy for the US Textile Labor Unions?
This is the head of the Pinto Boys who grandly failed his fiduciary responsibilities. And for all his destructive agenda against the NMI, someone calls him “levelheaded?” Man, this seems like a horrible nightmare!
The Aranza appointment
Ferdinand “Danny” Aranza’s ramblings that he wants to work with the NMI is but pure bureaucratic gobbledygook in mediocrity the only difference being a new gif wrap. I mean, it is obvious the agenda remains the same–federal takeover–where big labor unions turn the Clinton administration (in its dealings with the NMI) into this century’s grand puppet. Talk about the lack of sincerity from the man at the top which has filtered down to his Pinto Boys Interior’s OIA. Sorry, Ferdinand, we’re not as stupid as we look.
The scandal-ridden Department of Interior is a microcosm of all that can go wrong when “assumed” power is turned into greed as to neglect the basic tenets inherent in the Covenant Agreement granting the NMI the right to self-government. I mean, since when did the US Congress grant OIA the right to compromise the democratic process? Who gave OIA the authority to use US mainland taxpayers money to lobby against the NMI?
Whatever happened to partnership that entails confidence buiding and harmony in our relationship? Well, let’s see what the new Pinto head has up his sleeves.
Kudos to PSS
It is comforting to know that this fall public schools would open their doors with enough instructors to each our children. The new group comprises of new ones, while the balance are returning retired teachers. At least, the issue of teacher recruitment is being met forthwith by PSS. Hope that down the stretch more of our college educated people would enter the teaching and nursing profession so we put this issue to rest.
We’ve come a long way in this matter, but to equip both our schools and hospital with indigenous staff professionals and technical people takes a process, in fact, a long process. And for those who played a key role in this vision (some living while others deceased), I personally salute your vision and commitment in forging a program years ago to meet this need. Si Yuus Maase` for your contributions. You’ve done an exemplary deed for the children and sick of these isles. Congratulations!
Lighter side now
A father advised his only son never to spend more than what he earns. Snapped the son: “But, dad, with my credit cards, I can spend in advance of my earnings. It’s the new culture here, dad!” Thanks to banking institutions who shot down my application for credit cards. It taught me real budgeting and living within my means!
About the only card I have in my wallet is that blue plastic from CHC. A` Saina!
