Last Sunday, 22 young kids in their fishing outfit sailed out of the Saipan waters to join the first international fishing derby for children organized by businessman JM Guerrero.

The event, which sponsors envision to become a yearly competition, was aimed at encouraging young children to engage in fishing. “We hope to revive interest in fishing among our kids,” Guerrero said.

Aboard the Sea Star with Lt. Gov. Jesus R. Sablan, who is a sport fishing enthusiast, these children spent four hours on the water not just to compete, but to have fun and enjoy fishing.
