Notes from near and far
The use of contraceptives isn’t necessarily welcomed in a male dominated society such as Japan. Perhaps such is the nature of a monolithic and very conservative society that has its own double standard. Japanese males view the use of contraceptives as solely the purview of prostitutes. Thus, the difficulty of acceptance of a form of populaton control.
Ironically, Japanese males have seen fit to take Viagra Trips to Honolulu when this pharmaceutical marvel first became available in the market. It matches the curiosity of old guys who not only gobbled it, but zipped-up handicap ramps at Mustang Ranch in Las Vegas on wheel chairs to test whether it works.
Well, it must have worked in that they exited brothels sporting the biggest and most satisfied smiles on their faces. For the first time too, they saw that the hands of time has moved to 9 o`clock rather than the usual 6:30 syndrome. Dirty old men, yeah, pancho? No! Viagra has its own pluses for faithful couples who employ love making as the ultimate means of communications!

But Mustang Ranch (a legal brothel or prostitution venue) recently shut its doors. It has nothing to do with anti-prostitution sentiment from the community, but more so over ownership. The town mayor lamented the loss of some $200,000 in annual revenues from such ill-repute industry. He says the community could use it. Fast way to make a buck for prostitutes and easy revenue for the mayor’s coffers.

Prostitution would persist no matter what mankind does to outlaw it. What’s the danger of this approach? You force the issue to go underground and about the only people who specialize with all the right connections are the mafia, yakuza and definitely the police force. The triad moves in and control it with a code of silence.
That it is an underground industry opens it up to murder, proliferation of sexually transmitted diseases, and the eventual corruption of the local police force. It has happened elsewhere where mafia families fight for a greater share of the flesh trade industry. Hawaii ought to know this by heart or wherever casino gambling and tourism exist.
We have said “no” to prostitution basically because the NMI is predominantly a Catholic Community. Yes, it is the community who decides its policies. We’ve said “no” to prostitution, yet it turns into an underground economy that includes the entry of hot chicks from neighboring Guam who originally hail from some strange towns in the US mainland. Check out Tinian’s harbor at 2 a.m. as prospects for cheap flesh trade descend from Saipan.

The Philippines has its share of the flesh industry, including such exotic places like Bangkok where women of all ages live in stables ready for whatever meets your fancy. Mabine lurks with the most dangerous bunch. It’s better that you avoid it altogether or return home with your new prized possession: HIV! Perhaps we ought to send an e-mail to Carmencita “Chie” Abad and encourage her to return home to clean the streets of Manila of the flesh trade industry before she continues trumpeting aged-old information of perceived conditions here. Such an undertaking would put to a test her human rights commitment.

It’s interesting how a young Filipina who used to do lewd shows at a bar across the CK Post Office was whisked away by some good federal samaritan. I can’t recall her name, but she too has turned into a federal witness against the NMI. It would be interesting to know who prepared her visa papers for her entry into the US mainland. Gee, feds (Jeffrey Farrow and the Pinto Boys) have done a great job bringing witnesses to prop-up their agenda of a federal takeover at the expense of US mainland taxpayers!
