The Saipan Fitness Center, through Jim Rys, co-owner and president, donated the use of its facility to the Northern Marianas College (NMC) for weight training class.

Jerome Ierome, the CNMI’s body building champion, is the instructor for the weight training class (PE-146). The 13 students in the class meet every Monday and Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Saipan Fitness Center normally charges a membership fee of $25 per month per person. A four-month membership for 13 people is $1,300.00.

NMC welcomed the donation, particularly by the PE faculty and students.

The college’s vice president, Jack Sablan; director of Development and Relations Tony Guerrero; Rep. Karl Reyes, chair of the House Ways and Means Committee; PE Department head Kurt Barnes, the weight lifting class and other NMC officials witnessed the presentation of donation from Rys.

After donating the services of Saipan Fitness Center, Rys instructed that the $250.00 fee that NMC usually pays for renting athletic facilities every semester be donated to KRNM public radio station managed and operated by NMC.

The NMC’s PE 146 Weight Lifting class expressed their appreciation to Rys for the generous contribution and for the opportunity to use such a fine and convenient facility.
