Jim Ellis, director of Learning Resources and photography instructor at Northern Marianas College has recently been awarded several first place awards in the Flame Tree Photo Contest sponsored by Marianas Visitors Authority.

As part of the celebration, Ellis will be having a one-man mini-exhibit of his photographs at the Snack Bar of NMC Saipan campus in Building H. Included in the exhibit will be those photographs that won him several prizes in the recent contest along with other works from the Marianas.

Ellis is a firm believer that to maintain credibility with their students, any art teacher must continue to be a producing artist. A good artist always strives to improve his/her work and to continue to grow and learn.

The exhibit will run from Friday, October 1, 1999, through Thursday, October 7, 1999. The NMC Snack Bar is open from 7:30 am until 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. It is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

The public is invited to come and view this exhibit and enjoy the work of one of NMC’s artists.
