Happy Thanksgiving!

Today marks the beginning of the Holiday Season and the last Thanksgiving Day of this century. Indeed, it has been a year we least want to remember. But for all that may have gone wrong in these isles, we must never lose hope in order to renew our vision of the promises that the future may have in store for us. Albeit difficult these experiences may be, it is in the Ship of Hope upon which we can fulfill our dreams of forging brighter tomorrows for posterity.

Yes, many of us can count our blessings in that even the most timid of the downtrodden still finds room to partake in the festive mood of this special day of thanks. It is in hope (within the context of Christian celebration) of the holiday season upon which all can draw strength in dealing with the insurmountable. It is in the promises of hope that enables us to regroup to attend to new challenges ahead.

Indeed, it has been and still is a difficult year riddled with numerous deathly earthquakes, airplane crashes, unusually strange weather that dislocate thousands of people, instability and civil war in certain regions of the global village. Yes, we can count our blessings that we have been spared superstorms all year round, storms that normally visit these isles between August and December.

And for all our misgivings, one thing is still very clear: these isles remain the paradise of both those who have made the Northern Marianas their home alongside Chamorros and Carolinians who are now US Citizens. Whatever you may be doing today, we wish you all one Happy Thanksgiving Day!
