The Issue: Despite his deteriorating condition, Mr. Moses Saburo has fulfilled his dreams to teach, a courageous feat to teach us the fatal consequences of AIDS.

Our View: It pays to take heed of Mr. Saburo’s words in order that this deadly plague is stemmed before it claims the lives of others.

Someone once said “Health is Wealth”. For the young teeming with excess energy, the meaning of wealth which could be harnessed by embracing healthy lifestyle, it must be difficult making room to understanding the essence of healthy living.

The need for caution is often derailed by the daily grind to accommodate competing influences between the home front and social activities. In the process, we neglect advise to steer clear of chancy and unhealthy activities that could permanently ruin a healthy lifestyle.

We feel the dizzying trauma that Mr. Saburo had to endure in his vision to start his own family with his fiancé completely shut by the death of his chosen partner for life. It must be devastating keeping such secret to himself, the humiliation he would face as an HIV positive, alienation from friends and families, not to mention the excruciating soul-searching upon learning that his fiancé has died.

This experience brings us to the front doors of this deadly disease. Your loved ones need not deal with their own bouts as a result of negligence. And it is your responsibility to trumpet the message that Mr. Saburo conveys in his own experiences so that we collectively stem the tide of a very costly and deadly disease. And that responsibility begins with nobody else but yourself! You’re an important equation in our collective effort as a community to fight the spread of AIDS.

Let us join hands against the use of needles, ensure that donated blood isn’t infected with HIV, promiscuity and prostitution. All these are sure tickets to contracting and spreading the deadly AIDS plague in these isles. Tell your friends of the consequences of AIDS and that he or she need not be a victim. It’s a matter of life!

We would be remiss if we don’t extend our word of gratitude to Mr. Saburo for his courage to share the deadly consequence of AIDS. Indeed, you have fulfilled your dreams to teach an ever important lesson against a plague. We will pray for you and once again, Si Yuus Maase` for being candid about what you had to endure and the vital message you have conveyed via the pages of the Saipan Tribune. Sulang and Si Yuus Maase`!
